"The Nest" is the twenty-eighth episode of Season 4 of The Amazing World of Gumball. It is the 144th episode overall.
Synopsis
A neighbor disappears and the Wattersons investigate, but discover the culprit may be their Evil Turtle.[2]
Plot

The next morning, the Wattersons are eating breakfast in the living room where they see a TV news report about the disappearance of local citizens. The news report shocks them but motivates Gumball and Darwin to investigate and find out who the culprit is. During the investigation, Darwin finds a mysterious egg under Gary's car, which they take to Anais for further examination. However, the brothers get bored of listening to her so they resume their search for clues. Fortunately, they find pieces of shredded clothes which lead to right underneath their own house.
Meanwhile, Anais finds out that the egg comes from a "Trionyx," the same species as their Evil Turtle. Much to her horror, the egg hatched while she was researching and the hatchling attacks her, alerting Gumball and Darwin who come to her rescue. Once the danger passes, Anais reveals that the Evil Turtle is actually female and escaped while being pregnant, rather than being straight-up evil.
After Nicole and Richard are informed of this, the family investigates area underneath their house, where Nicole sees a whole breeding ground filled with the Evil Turtle's eggs as well as the missing locals. Just as Nicole gets them out, the eggs begin to hatch. The countless hatchlings spread all over Elmore, wrecking havoc everywhere they go.
Anais then finds out that the hatchlings will take over any territory they can unless they have their mother to guide them, so the only way to stop the hatchlings from destroying Elmore is to find the Evil Turtle so she can lead her offspring to the river. The family finds the Evil Turtle captured in the pest controller's van and show her to her offsprings. The plan works, albeit it works too well as Gumball puts it. Gumball says goodbye to the Evil Turtle and apologizes for never understanding her (the turtle nuzzles Gumball instead of biting him). The family observes the Evil Turtle swimming away with her babies in awe, with Gumball revealing that their pet was never really evil, but simply a caring parent. However, the turtles attack and sink a nearby ship, much to the family's shock. The episode ends when Anais speculates that the turtle may have been both caring and evil.

- When Richard and Nicole are watching the news, Nicole's whiskers are gone.
- When Anais says she is going to get down to the cold blooded facts, her eyelashes disappear.
- When Anais researches the book Reptiles & Amphibians: A Natural History, "Australia" is misspelled as "Austrlia" on the page concerning "The Crocodile."
- At the beginning of the episode, the Wattersons' mailbox is seen to the right of the walkway. But it is later seen on the left when they flee from the turtles.

The Night of the First Attack
- [The episode starts at night, with Gary searching for his cat in front of his house]
- Gary: Here, kitty, kitty, kitty.
- [He starts walking on to the sidewalk; heavy breathing is heard]
- Gary: Kitty? Where are you? Kitty, kiiiity, kitty?
- [Startled by the heavy breathing, Gary turns around, only to notice that it was Richard watching television next door. Taking notice, Nicole tries to cover his mouth, but he continues to blow into her hand. Gary then hears another sound, believing it to be his cat]
- Gary: Oh, kitty! I can hear you under there, you little rascal. Come on.
- [Gary bends over to look under the car. Sensing something approaching behind him, he turns around and screams, but it turns out to be his cat after all, who meows at him]
- Gary: Ah, there you are!
- [The cat starts to hiss and back up from Gary]
- Gary: Wait, If you're there, Then what's --
- [Gary is violently dragged underneath his car; he desperately tries to escape]
- Gary: [Screaming] Oh, man! Oh, no! Help me! Ah Oh Ahhhhh!
- [Gary disappears underneath his car while the car alarm blares]
Breaking News
- [The next day, the Wattersons are watching television and eating breakfast]
- Gumball: Meh. I had a really weird dream last night. I asked Penny if she would marry me and she was all like, [Screaming] "Oh, man! Oh, no! Help me! Ah Oh Ahhhhh! Woowoowoowoowoo!" [Calmly] I took it as a yes.
- Kip Schlezinger: We interrupt this cartoon with some breaking news. Elmore Police are investigating the disappearance of a number of local citizens. Who's to blame? Feral Teenagers? Foreigners? The Internet? We don't have all the evidence, but it's never too early for a verdict, so we say yes!
- [The Wattersons gasps]
- Kip Schlezinger: Yes!

- Kip Schlezinger: And YES!! [Bangs his fists on the table]
- [The Wattersons do an even bigger gasp; they huddle together]
- Kip Schlezinger: [Showing an image of a younger Gary] Here is one of the alleged victims.
- Richard: Ah. It's okay. We don't know him.
- Kip Schlezinger: This photo is several years old, [Wrinkles drawn on to the image of Gary's forehead] but this is what he may look like now.
- All: [Gasps] It's the guy next door!
Finding Mr. Purply Antler Guy
- [Outside, French Fry Cop puts up a missing poster showing Gary]
- Gumball: [Gesturing dramatically at the missing poster] Oh, how could this have happened to you, dear Mr...
- Darwin: Purply....
- Gumball: Antler...
- Darwin: Guy...? I have no idea what he's called.
- Gumball: Me, neither.
- Darwin: And to think we live right next door to him.
- Gumball: We've gotta help find him.
- Darwin: Yes! Because we refuse to let you go without a fight. Oh, dear Mister... [Unintelligible] ... Sorry, I thought it would come. [Starts to walk away with Gumball, but quickly runs back] We might need this. [Grabs poster and runs off]
Discovering the Egg
- [Gumball and Darwin begin their search walking near their house]
- Gumball: You don't just disappear like that without leaving some kind of evidence. [Darwin looks through the car window] Hmm... Must be something.
- [Gumball and Darwin notice the trash can rattling behind them and approach it cautiously]
- Gumball: Aha!
- [Gumball lifts the trash can up, revealing Gary's cat hiding on the bottom. The cat then jumps on Gumball's face and begins scratching him, making Gumball scream and fall over. He quickly gets back up and brushes himself off, with some of his fur peeling off of his face]
- Gumball: [Deadpan] And that is why I'm not a cat person.
- Darwin: Uh... [Gestures at Gumball who is, quite literally, a cat person]
- Gumball: What?
- Darwin: Nothing. [Gumball starts to walk off; Darwin ducks under the car] Oh, wait up. Uh, you might wanna take a look at this.
- [Gumball and Darwin look under the car, discovering an egg stuck to the bottom. Gumball gasps]
- [Gumball and Darwin both imitate dramatic music]
Investigating the Egg
- [Anais investigates the egg in the attic with a magnifying glass]
- Anais: Hmm... I'm not exactly sure, but I'm certain I've seen something like it in this book. It's an egg, so it's obviously not mammalian. From it's leathery surface, I'd rule out avian. Aha! Then it must be reptilian. But let's not get ahead of ourselves here; I need to study the cold-blooded facts. [Chuckles] Get it? Cold-blooded? Reptile? [Notices that Gumball and Darwin are gone, hearing the attic door slam; she sighs]
- [Gumball and Darwin are back to searching outside. A trail of clothing is seen on the sidewalk in front of them]
- Darwin: Didn't you wanna hear what she thought?
- Gumball: Nah. She lost me at "book." Let's just keep looking for clues.
- Darwin: Maybe this obvious trail of shredded clothing is a clue.
- [Dramatic cue]
- Gumball: Nah. If it was, it would be more dramatic than that.
- [An even more dramatic cue plays and it starts to rain. Gary's cat screeches and jumps into frame]
- Gumball: [Terrified] Okay, okay, okay! It's a clue, it's a clue! [Laughs nervously; Starts following the trail of clothes around the house]
- [The scene cuts to Nicole and Richard watching the news and holding each other nervously]
- Kip Schlezinger: The number of mysterious disappearances continues to rise. Elmore Police have made the following statement.
- Donut Cop: [Addressing the camera] We are doing everything in our power to find the missing citizen, leaving no stone unturned.
- [In the distance, Hamburger Cop turns a stone over and examines it carefully. He looks back at Doughnut Sheriff and sadly shakes his head]
- [The scene cuts to Gumball and Darwin, who follow the trail of clothes to a grate on the side of their house]
- Darwin: Wait. The shredded clothes lead right back to our own house?
- [Gumball and Darwin lift up the grate]
- Gumball: This could only mean one thing.
- Darwin: Whoever is in there is naked.
- [Gumball and Darwin both giggle; hearing thunder, they flinch]
Trouble in the Attic
- [Anais is looking through her book in the attic]
- Anais: Okay, reptiles. It's gotta be in here somewhere. Snake? No. Crocodile? No. Banker? No. Oh, what could it be?
- [The egg starts to crack in the foreground. A small turtle crawls out, unbeknownst to Anais]
- Anais: [Gasps] The Trionyx. "An aggressive predator from the Nile River." Hey, that's the same as our turtle. "Eggs will only hatch in a warm environment."
- [Anais turns around and gasps, seeing the hatched egg. Breathing heavily, she starts to back out of the room. She notices what she believes to be a baseball bat and readies to defend herself, but it turns out to be a feather duster. The turtle approaches her from behind and scratches the back of her leg, causing her to scream]
- Gumball and Darwin: [Hearing Anais' screams] Anais!
- [They dart over to the attic, where they find Anais struggling to hold back the turtle, which is snapping close to her face]
- Gumball: Hold on! [Grabs a tennis racket; gruff voice] Hey, you, say hello to my little friend... Darwin. [Pushes Darwin into frame, giving him the tennis racket]
- Darwin: Uh...
- [The turtle tries to bite Darwin, making him scream and fall over]
- Anais: [Yelling] Gumball, distract it!
- [Nervously, Gumball starts dancing to rouse the turtle's attention. With the turtle distracted, Anais runs up to it and hits it with her book, causing the turtle to fly out of the roof]
- Gumball: What was that thing?
- Anais: That was our Evil Turtle's baby.
- [Gumball and Darwin gasps]
- Anais: Which means our evil turtle was a girl.
- [Gumball and Darwin gasps]
- Anais: And she wasn't really evil.
- [Gumball and Darwin gasps]
- Anais: She was just pregnant.
- [Gumball and Darwin gasps]
- Anais: And I think she-
- Gumball: [Short of breath] Wait. One more shocking revelation and we might explode.
- [Gumball and Darwin exhale]
- Gumball: Please continue.
- Anais: She must have escaped.
- [Gumball and Darwin explode]
A Little Problem
- [Gumball, Darwin, and Anais are in the kitchen looking at Evil Turtle's tank]
- Gumball: But how? We blocked the top of the tank.
- Anais: She must've chewed her way down.
- Gumball: [Moves the books, revealing a hole going down the cupboard] I think we have a little problem.
- Anais: I think it's a big one. It says in this book it'll grow according to how much food is available. So imagine what she could become in an American suburb.
- Gumball and Darwin: [Scared] Supersized.
- [Screen flashes]
- [The scene changes to Nicole and Richard still watching the news]
- Kip Schlezinger: Breaking news. The monster has been caught...
- [Nicole and Richard sighs]
- Kip Schlezinger: On camera eating an old man walking his dog.
- [Nicole and Richard gasps; Anais, Darwin, and Gumball try to get their attention, rambling incoherently]
- Richard: Shh! Kids please.
- [On the television, Marvin is shown being eaten by the Evil Turtle. Marvin screams and the camera gets up closer to him]
- Mike: Elmore News, do you have any comment?
- Nicole: Oh my gosh.
- Richard: I know... [Excited] Our turtle is famous!
- [Everyone glares at Richard, making him frown]
- Kip Schlezinger: Unfortunately for our sponsors, the turtle's now been captured by Elmore Pest Control.
- [Footage shows Evil Turtle being locked in a cage and shut in the Elmore Pest Control van as she hisses at the camera]
- Nicole: How has this happened?
- Anais: She escaped to make a nest to lay her eggs. She must have been pregnant when Dad bought her.
- Richard: Who's to say that this pregnant turtle is a her?
- [Everyone stares at Richard uncomfortably]
- Kip Schlezinger: ...is Donald MacArthur, Martin Peaches, and Gary Hedges...
- Nicole: We need to find that nest.
- Kip Schlezinger: The only traces of the victims are shredded pieces of their clothing.
- [Gumball and Darwin imitate dramatic music]
Finding the Nest
- [Screen flashes]
- [Back outside, Nicole is crouching through the vent at the back of their house with a flashlight, looking for the nest. She suddenly gasps]
- Gumball: What do you see?
- [The camera zooms out, revealing the grate to be filled with turtle eggs, slime, and trapped victims]
- Nicole: Ahh! [Nicole screams as she just notices Gary right beside her, trapped in slime]
- Gary: [Faintly] The light, the light!
- Nicole: No! Don't go into the light! Stay with us, stay with us!
- Gary: No! I mean the flashlight, you're shining it in my eyes.
- Nicole: Oh, sorry. [Puts flashlight down] Why did the turtle bring you here?
- Gary: For food.
- [The eggs starts to hatch. The trapped residents scream]
- Nicole: We gotta get out of here. Now!
- [Nicole pulls out the trapped residents; the Evil Turtle's babies run out of the grate and invade all of Elmore]
Turtle Frenzy
- [At a gas station, Mr. Small is seen filling up his van and the Cowboy is buying candy from the vending machine]
- Cowboy: [His candy gets stuck in the vending machine; he sighs] Not again.
- [The Cowboy reaches his hand up the vending machine and gets pulled into the vending machine; Larry also runs out of the convenient store while screaming and gets into Mr. Small's van and drives away while he was still filling it up, causing the hose to break and creating a trail of gasoline]
- Mister Small: [Running after Larry] Wait, wait!
- [Turtles continue to run out of the convenient store; in the van, Larry sighs in relief and adjusts the mirror before noticing a turtle clinging to it, which attacks him. The van swerves into a power line, which ignites the gasoline trail and creates an explosion; Harold is seen jogging through Elmore and listening to music, failing to recognize anything wrong. His music player starts making noises, so he checks it, revealing a turtle that lunges at him]
- Goblin: [Singing in the shower] La la, la la, la la, la la, la, la, [Reaches for a turtle hiding in a shell, which he believes to be soap] la la la la, la la la la la la [The turtle bites his private parts, causing him to scream] LAAAAA!
- [Porky is shown at Elmore Shopping trying to back away from a crowd of turtles]
- Porky: [Gasps] What do you want? Peaches? [Throws can of peaches at turtles] No? Hot dogs? [Grunts; throws can of hot dogs] No? Yes! Turtle food! [Throws can of turtle food; the turtles ignore it, scramble on top of him, and begin eating away at him] AGH! But you didn't want the hot dogs!
- [Nicole is shown trying to defend the kids and Richard from a turtle, chasing after it with a shovel]
- Nicole: Get away from my kids, you little --
- [Nicole gasps; the Wattersons flee, screaming, from an incoming wave of even more turtles; Mike is shown giving a report in a helicopter above the town]
- Mike: Breaking news: foreign, killer turtles are swarming Elmore. Are they here to eat you? Or worse, take your job? Elmore News will cover these terrible events, until we find something worse to exaggerate.
- [Turtles are shown clinging to the bottom of the helicopter. One bites away at its wires, causing the helicopter to crash into the parking lot of the Elmore Mall as the Wattersons run away]
- Mike: [Screaming] Uh! Oh no! Oh! DON'T! [Gumball turns around as Mike, still being recorded, is surrounded by turtles] Keep rolling! KEEP ROLLING! [Shrieks and collapse to the ground]
- [Gumball catches up with his family, who are watching in shock]
- Gumball: [Out of breath] Why are they so evil?!
- Anais: [Pulls out book] Well, in the wild, they follow their mother back to the river! Without her, they're taking over any territory they can!
- Richard: Then there's only one solution! We welcome our new rulers, put on loincloths, and surrender as their slaves!
- Gumball: She meant we need to find their mother.
- Richard: [Covered in gold, holding a feather fan and wearing a loincloth] Well, it's still a democracy for now, so who votes for my idea?
- [The other Wattersons flee and Richard sighs; Anais talks to the Pest Controller]
- Pest controller: Woah, woah woah woah! Explain that again?
- Anais: The babies will follow her to the river, and the town will be saved!
- Pest controller: You make a lot of sense, young lady. That's the only sense-- [Nicole hits him over the head with a trash can, knocking him out]
- Anais: Wha? WHAT?! He agreed with us!
- Nicole: He did? Oh well, force of habit, usually people just say no to us.
To the River
- [On the streets, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson are surrounded by baby turtles. Mrs. Robinson tries to defend herself with a shovel while Mr. Robinon struggles to shake a turtle off of his leg]
- Gaylord: Agh! Get! Get away! Get away! Get away! [A baby turtle takes Mrs. Robinson's shovel and hits her on the head with it, causing her to collapse into Mr. Robinson's arms] Margaret!
- [The pest control van veers and stops behind Mr. Robinson. Gumball and Darwin open its back doors, revealing Evil Turtle in a cage. Evil Turtle screeches, getting the turtles' attention all across Elmore]
- Gumball: It's working. It's working!
- [The baby turtles all dart towards the van]
- Gumball: [Panicking] It's working too well! IT'S WORKING TOO WELL!
- [Nicole, driving the van, floors the gas pedal. The van speeds off, being pursued by the baby turtles, one of which bites one of the van's tires]
- Gumball: They're going for the tires!
- Richard: Why don't you drive faster?!
- [Nicole turns on the van's windshield wipers, wiping off several turtles]
- Nicole: [Angrily] Why didn't you buy a puppy?!
- [The back doors fly off. The van drives through a gate]
- Nicole: Yes! The river! [She steps on the brake pedal, but the van keeps going] Wha-? Gah! They've eaten the brakes?
- [The van drives off toward the docks, out of control]
- Gumball: We're gonna have to jump!
- [Gumball opens Evil Turtle's cage and reaches his hand towards her]
- Gumball: I'm sorry we never understood you.
- [Evil Turtle hisses, but allows Gumball to pat her head]
- Gumball: Goodbye, Evil Turtle.
- Nicole: JUMP!
- [The Wattersons leap out of the back of the van; it goes off the dock and into the water, with the baby turtles all following suit. The sun sets as the Wattersons, captivated, watch Evil Turtle and her babies swim towards the horizon]
- Gumball: See? She was never evil. She was just looking after her babies.
- [The Wattersons hug. Evil Turtle suddenly veers towards a boat and attacks it, causing it to sink. The Wattersons stare on, horrified]
- Anais: Eh. Maybe it was both.
- [The episode ends]
