It's been a while. Users have come and gone.
Fundamental mistakes have been made in the governance of America. In spite of all of that, after all this time, the writing contest is back for the summer!
The last time a writing contest was proposed, last year, it ended up an unequivocal failure in the sense that nobody did anything for it. Given the success of the recent art contests, though, we're willing to give this a second chance. With more and more new users flocking to the Wiki and a revived interest in the contest itself, there doesn't seem like a better time to try again.
The success of this contest will basically determine the viability of doing more writing contests in the future, so if you want to see the creative side of this Wiki flourish, I recommend giving this a shot.
If it wasn't an obvious enough premise: write, post what you write, and pray that people like what you write. Follow those three steps, and you might win and see your work gracing the front page for the world to admire!
The contest will be open for submissions through to July 23rd, 2017. After that time has passed, another thread will open up dedicated to voting on the pieces. The details of the voting process will be laid out later, but it'll be conducted in the exact same as the way the art contests are for the sake of simplicity.
All you have to do is hyperlink your work in a comment to this thread and provide a brief description, and you're pretty much good to go. Links will be accepted from any multitude of sources: Fanfiction.net, Google Docs, Tumblr, Wattpad, Deviantart, personal sites, and so on. Basically, as long as you don't give my computer a virus, we're on good terms.
In terms of what the content of the work will be: generally speaking, anything you want. It can be dramatic. It can be satirical. It can be a script for all I care. Simply adhere to:
Before you go off and write to your heart's content, do keep the following rules in mind:
The three people who receive the most votes on the voting thread will have their works displayed on the front page.
Best of luck to everybody participating! I know there's some real talent around here, and I'd love to see what all of you guys can conjure up. Any qualms or inquiries should be addressed to one of the following:
Now whip out those keyboards and get to work!
